Telemarketers keep more than 65 cents of every $1 they raise for Central New York charities
Syracuse, N.Y. — Professional for-profit telemarketers pocketed an average of 65.5 cents of every $1 they raised last year for Central New York charities, according to state Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman.
An annual report on fundraising released by his office today showed an average of 36.9 cents of every charitable dollar raised by telemarketers statewide last year went to charity. The report is available online.
